The Pahrump Balloon Festival, a cherished annual event in the valley, is undergoing changes, including a shift to February 2024, as announced by organizers. Doug Campbell, the event’s organizer and operator, explained that this adjustment was necessary due to timing concerns for the upcoming year, opting for February over November. The festival has faced scheduling conflicts in recent years, with previous attempts to move it to March or April, despite windiness during those months. Campbell mentioned that dwindling community support and business impacts, partly caused by road closures in Death Valley, contributed to the decision to change the festival date.
