A concerning incident unfolded as a teenager, believed to be armed with a handgun, recklessly evaded a traffic stop conducted by Nye County Sheriff Joe McGill. The alarming events took place on Saturday, May 20, around 9:28 a.m., in the parking lot of McDonald’s at highways 160 and 372. Despite McGill’s presence, the young rider refused to pull over his unregistered dirt bike, instigating a dangerous pursuit through neighboring areas. Additional deputies were urgently called in to assist in capturing the fleeing individual.
The heart-pounding chase finally reached a distressing climax at approximately 9:40 a.m. when the teenage rider lost control, resulting in a severe crash at Honeysuckle Street and Pahrump Valley Boulevard. The repercussions of this reckless behavior left the young individual with minor cuts and scratches, attended to by the swift response of Pahrump Valley Fire and Rescue Services medics. Even more alarming, a handgun was recovered from the possession of the teenager, heightening concerns about the potential risks involved. The unidentified minor has since been apprehended and transferred to the Nye County Juvenile Detention Center, where they now face charges for fleeing, failure to yield, and various traffic violations.
