Parents, beware! A recall has been issued for certain Baby Shark bath toys due to safety concerns. The recall affects both the full-size Robo Alive Junior Baby Shark Sing & Swim bath toys and the Mini Baby Shark Swimming bath toys.

The full-size Baby Shark bath toys, which sing and swim when placed in water, have a hard plastic top fin with three grooves on one side. They measure about 7 inches from nose to tail and were sold in yellow, pink, and blue colors. You could purchase them individually or in packs of three. To identify the recalled full-size bath toys, check for the tracking label information on the bottom, which includes raised lettering stating model number “#25282” and a date code starting with “DG” followed by “YYYY/MM/DD” within the date range DG20190501 through DG20220619. Please note that only the full-size Baby Shark toys with a hard plastic top fin are included in this recall.

On the other hand, the recalled Mini Baby Shark bath toys swim in water but do not sing. They also have a hard plastic top fin and measure about 4 inches from nose to tail. Like the full-size toys, they were sold in yellow, pink, and blue colors. The mini-size bath toys were available for purchase individually, in packs of two or three, and as part of a Baby Shark Music Water Park playset. To identify the recalled mini-size bath toys, look for the tracking label information on the bottom, which includes raised lettering stating model numbers “#7163,” “#7175,” “#7166,” or “#25291” and a date code starting with “DG” followed by “YYYY/MM/DD” within the date range DG2020615 through DG2023525.

If you own any of the recalled bath toys, it is important to take action. Immediately stop using them and contact Zuru, the manufacturer, to arrange for a full refund. For each full-size bath toy, you can receive $14, and for each mini-size bath toy, you can receive $6. The refund will be provided in the form of a prepaid virtual Mastercard. To initiate the refund process, you need to disable the tail fin of the toy (cut it on the full-size bath toy or bend it on the mini-size bath toy). Then, mark the body of the shark bath toy with the word “recalled” and the unique code provided during registration for the recall. Next, upload a photo of the disabled and marked product at https://www.recallrtr.com/bathshark. Once the photo is received, Zuru will issue the refund to the purchasers.

It is worth noting that there have been 12 reported incidents involving the recalled full-size Baby Shark bath toys. Children have fallen or sat on the toys, resulting in impalement injuries, lacerations, and puncture wounds, including to sensitive areas such as the genital, anorectal, and facial regions. Nine of these incidents required stitches or medical attention. Fortunately, there have been no reported incidents or injuries involving the Mini Baby Shark bath toys.
