Detectives from the Nye County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the death of a one-year-old child in Pahrump. On Saturday, July 1, first-responders arrived at a residence on Bighorn Street after 10 a.m. They found the child unconscious in a car seat. The details surrounding the death are unclear, but authorities and medical teams responded to the scene and confirmed that the child was not breathing. Attempts to revive the child were unsuccessful, and they were pronounced dead shortly after. The child’s parents had been arrested the previous night on domestic violence charges, unrelated to the child’s death. The child’s grandparents were caring for the baby while the parents were in custody. The sheriff’s office stated that there were no signs of foul play or external injuries, but the investigation is ongoing, pending the results of the autopsy. Further information will be released by the sheriff’s office once the investigation is concluded.
